TAKING YOUR FIRST STEP

Why does one become a Freemason?
This is not an easy question to answer, because every Brother has his own reasons and perspective on why he originally inquired and then proceeded with a decision to become a member of our Fraternity. So there are a multitude of answers to this complex question.
For many it’s about being able to better themselves through learning and actions. For others it is about becoming a better member of their community and helping those less fortunate. For some, it’s about making new friends and acquaintances. In Freemasonry there is both one path and many paths for one to travel.
While Freemasonry is many things to many people, it is not for everyone. Our Fraternal Craft is not right for some people, and some people are not right for our Fraternal Craft. The question is... "Is it right for you? "
The first step in answering that question is knowing you are entering Freemasonry for the right reasons. Freemasonry has a strong moral code. Its rituals encourages Brethren to consider their actions, and especially, the effects of their actions upon others. By joining Freemasonry you will be accepted into a Brotherhood of "like minded" men... men with similar values, ideals, and understanding. Freemasonry is about designing a life built upon a foundation of certain virtues... "Are you prepared to live your life based on such a path? "

HOW TO JOIN
Washington Lodge accepts applications from men who are of good character, recommended by those within the local fraternity, and who believe in one God. First look over the requirements to the right to make sure you qualify for membership in our Fraternity.
Before submitting a petition we ask that anyone interested in becoming a member first come to an event or dinner so that they can meet the Brethren and so we can be sure to answer any questions you might have. The next step will be filling out a Petition and bringing it to the Lodge along with a $165.00 initiation fee. (downloadable Petitions are on the right). Once we receive the Petition it will be voted on at the next Stated Meeting (held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month). If the Petition is approved we will proceed with the next step. As always, we will be here when you are ready... |
