WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?
Freemasonry is based on a foundation of long held traditions that have been passed to each generation of Freemasons for hundreds of years, if not thousands of years; and yet Freemasonry is different for each Brother. For many it’s about being able to better themselves through learning and actions. For others it is about becoming a better member of their community and helping those less fortunate. For some, it’s about making new friends and acquaintances. In Freemasonry there is both one path and many paths for one to travel.
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal organization. It teaches self-knowledge through participation in a progression of ceremonies. Members are expected to be of high moral standing and are encouraged to speak openly about Freemasonry. Each will find their own path in Freemasonry and be encouraged, assisted, and respected by their fellow brethren.
Freemasonry is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are taught its principles through a progression of ritual dramas which follow ancient forms, and use stonemasons’ customs and tools as symbolic guides.
Freemasonry instills in its members a moral and ethical approach to life: its values are based on Tolerance, Personal Growth, Family, Integrity, Freedom, and Philanthropy. Members are urged to better themselves, however are reminded to never forget to help those around them.
Below are lists of what Freemasonry is and is not. It should help give a general idea of what we are and what we do. If you find you still have questions , contact us and we will try to answer what we can.
